There is a pop-up notification with a sound when new email is received in Mail app. But in the case of Outlook, I have to update the folder at times. But most of the time the mail is delivered but I expect the app to notify me with a pop-up message. I checked the community discussion, there were quiet a few issues like mine but none of them have been answered properly or followed up.

You might need to turn on the notification in your Windows 10 settings. If you already change the settings on your Outlook desktop app which you need to provide a check on Play a sound , Show an envelope icon in the taskbar and Display a Desktop Alert.
